The information you need to choose your four medical schools does exist, but it is scattered: cut-offs buried in Freedom of Information responses, entry rules spread across dozens of university pages, and statistics nobody lays side by side. I wanted students, and their parents, to be able to see it all in one place, condensed so that anyone can read it and understand what it says.

Most of all, I want you to feel confident in your choices.

I did it alone: countless Google searches, every university’s own admissions pages, and Freedom of Information data from the universities, getting out everything they would provide. That came to 82 source documents, compiled by hand into a data page for each of the 34 medical schools covered so far, each condensed onto one page so it is easy to read.

You don’t have to take my word for any of it. The numbers are not my opinion: they are the universities’ own figures, and every school’s page ends with a list of where they came from, so you can check them yourself. If you find one that is wrong, tell me and it will be fixed within 48 hours.

MedOffr is independent. It has no link to any university or to UCAS, and nobody pays to be shown or ranked.

• –Expose your information. Your grades, shortlist and statement are yours. Nothing about you is shared with universities, UCAS or anyone else.
• –Write your personal statement. The reviewer highlights the weak areas and tells you what the issues are, so you can fix them yourself. It never rewrites a word.
• –Tell you where to apply. The finder suggests where your grades and UCAT give you a real chance, and shows you the numbers behind every suggestion. The decision is always yours.

The reviewer is unfinished and in beta, and it is paused for a short while. I’m working on the accuracy of its scores, so that you get a score you can trust, and one that is honest without being demoralising.
