How Imperial builds its shortlist
UCAT decides who is interviewed
Applicants are ranked by UCAT total and the top third or so are invited to interview. In effect the 2,320 threshold is where that top third began, which is why it moves from year to year with the applicant pool.
Then a 75% post-interview success rate
From the interview onwards Imperial aims to keep offers at about 75% of those interviewed. Get into the room and the odds are in your favour; the UCAT is the hard gate.
Predicted grades: A*AA is now the floor
For 2026 entry an AAA prediction was accepted provided the UCAT met the requirement. From 2027 entry an A*AA prediction is the minimum.
GCSEs are a checkbox, not a score
GCSEs are used only to confirm you meet the minimum requirements. Once a grade 6 in English Language is confirmed, they are not looked at again. A wall of 9s does not help here and a mixed set does not hurt.
SJT and the interview
SJT Band 4 is rejected outright; Bands 1, 2 and 3 are all fine and are not ranked against each other. The interview is MMI, 6 stations and the asynchronous (recorded) part of the interview has been scrapped.

Home applicants get most of the offers: in 2024, 27% of Home applications got one against 5% of Overseas applications. The 2025 Overseas jump is in the provisional column; wait for the full-year figures before reading anything into it.
