Glasgow Medicine: the admissions numbers

Glasgow publishes its UCAT thresholds for interview: for 2026 entry 1,870 for Scottish applicants, 1,990 for the rest of the UK and 2,150 for international. Its admissions table adds four years of applications, interviews, offers and intake by domicile, the UCAT range at each stage, and the lowest UCAT interviewed every year since 2014. In 2025, 351 of 491 rest-of-UK applicants were interviewed and 123 got an offer for an intake of 47; the lowest rest-of-UK UCAT interviewed was 2,610 out of 3,600. Offer AAA, Panel interview.

Read this before you use any number on the page

The 2026-entry thresholds are on the current scale out of 2,700; every other UCAT figure on the page is on the old scale out of 3,600 and does not convert. The 2017 line (1,990) excluded the then-new Decision Analysis element.
Places are set by the Scottish Government for each group, so the rest-of-UK line is usually well above the Scottish one and the international line above both. Read the row for your own fee status, not the total.
“Lowest score considered for interview” is the lowest UCAT of anyone Glasgow interviewed in that group, which one applicant can set. It moves every year with the cohort; 2022’s rest-of-UK line was 2,870 and 2024’s 2,500.
Before 2021 “Home” included EU applicants; from 2021 EU applicants are counted as international.

Stage 1: a screen, not a score

Every application is screened for the minimum academic requirements and for a satisfactory personal statement and reference. Neither is scored, but a statement that is too vague or written for another programme is likely to be rejected.

Stage 2: ranked by UCAT, interviewed from the top

Applicants who pass the screen are ranked by total UCAT and interviewed from the top down until capacity is reached. The line changes every year and differs between Scottish, rest-of-UK and international applicants because places for each group are set by the Scottish Government.

SJT Band 4 is rejected

A Situational Judgement Test Band 4 is an automatic rejection. Otherwise the SJT band is not part of the ranking.

Entry requirements

AAA including Chemistry and one of Biology, Physics or Mathematics, at the first attempt in one sitting. GCSEs: English Language or English Literature at grade 6, and Biology at grade 6 if not studied at A level. The most recent qualifications should have been gained within the past seven years; applicants who have started medicine elsewhere are not considered.

The lowest offer equals the cut-off in both years: at Glasgow, clearing the line for rest-of-UK applicants is most of the battle, and the average interviewee sits about 200 points above it.

The FOI’s rest-of-UK cut-offs match the published table’s lines for the same years. The average interviewee sat some 200 to 400 above the line, and the lowest offer each year equalled the interview line: once interviewed, the UCAT no longer decided.

Scottish applicants are interviewed at roughly twice the rate of rest-of-UK ones and converted to offers at a far higher rate (76% against 35% in 2025), because the rest-of-UK intake is capped at around 47. For a rest-of-UK applicant Glasgow is a UCAT contest for one of about 123 offers.
