Southampton Medicine: the admissions numbers
Southampton ranks everyone who meets the entry requirements by UCAT and interviews the top; an FOI gives four cycles of interviews and offers by category and the lowest UCAT invited each year. In the 2024 cycle c.689 Home non-contextual applicants were interviewed from a lowest UCAT of 2,610 out of 3,600, and c.449 got an offer. Offer AAA, Selection day with a group task.

No fixed cutoff: everyone meeting the requirements is ranked by UCAT and the top are interviewed. Ballpark 1,900 to 2,000 on the current scale; the FOI lines (2,610 to 2,810 for Home non-contextual, old scale) are on the data page. The SJT is not used.

Every cell is a UCAT score out of 3,600 (the old four-subtest test): the lowest score of anyone in that category who was invited to interview that cycle. So in 2024 no Home non-contextual applicant with a UCAT under 2,610 was interviewed, but a contextual applicant was interviewed with 2,370. “All applicants” is the lowest across every category including graduates and mature applicants, which is why it sits below the others.

The shape is steady: around 800 interviews a year, most of them Home non-contextual, and offers to roughly half of Home non-contextual interviewees until 2024, when offers jumped to 65% and the line fell to 2,610 as applications dropped to c.1,309. Contextual applicants were interviewed from 40 to 270 points lower each year.
