How it runs

Format
Multiple mini interview (MMI) · About 7 stations
When
Aberdeen interviews between December and March and invites by email to book a slot; check your spam folder, as missed emails do not get new slots. For 2026 entry, Medicine interviews ran 15 to 19 December 2025 in person at the Suttie Centre, Foresterhill, and Gateway2Medicine on 7 April 2026.
In detail
A modified MMI of about an hour. At each station two selectors explore one area with you for five minutes and score you against set criteria. There is no reading. Bring photo ID.
How it is scored
Each station scores how clearly you express ideas, how you use what you know on unfamiliar ground, how you follow an argument to an opinion, how prepared you are, whether you weigh both sides, and the motivation, commitment, reflection and sensitivity you show. Communication and interpersonal skills are scored separately at every station. It does not test academic knowledge, and everyone is tested on the same areas, though not always with the same questions.
From interview to offer
Academic achievement or predictions (30%) and the UCAT (20%) are scored and added, and the highest-scoring applicants are invited to interview. The interview score (50%) is then added to what has already been scored.

Questions to practise

Written by MedOffr in the style of MMI stations. None is taken from Aberdeen or claimed to have been asked there.

  1. 01 · Motivation

Why medicine, rather than nursing, pharmacy or becoming a physician associate?

  2. 02 · Ethics

A 15-year-old asks a GP for contraception and does not want her parents told. What should the GP weigh up?

  3. 03 · Role play

You borrowed a friend's laptop and it has stopped working. The actor is your friend: tell them.

  4. 04 · Data

This table shows A&E waiting times at two hospitals over a year. What can and can't you conclude from it?

  5. 05 · Teamwork

Tell us about a time a group you were part of was not working well. What did you do, and what would you change?

  6. 06 · Work experience

What did you see on your work experience that surprised you about a doctor's job?

  7. 07 · The NHS

What is one pressure on the NHS at the moment, and what would you do about it?
