Anglia Ruskin Medicine: the interview
A multiple mini interview (six stations scored out of 15 each). Below: the numbers, what the interview looks for, your personal statement and SJT band, and questions to practise.
- Format
- Multiple mini interview (MMI) · Six stations scored out of 15 each
- When
- For 2027 entry, interview days are 7 to 11 December and 7 to 13 January (Medicine with Gateway Year on 14 January). Book a day in your applicant portal within 14 days of the invitation; an invitation sent in November books December dates.
- In detail
- Six stations of seven minutes, with two minutes to read the instructions outside each, about an hour in all, in person at the School of Medicine. Some stations use actors; you are given a notepad to use round the circuit.
- Who interviews
- The Medicine course team, healthcare professionals, doctors, senior medical students and service users; usually one interviewer a station.
- How it is scored
- Six MMI stations, each scored in three domains (quality of answer, skills and qualities shown, communication) out of 5, so 15 a station and 90 in all; raw scores are adjusted for bias by a psychometrician. The Admissions Panel sets an interview score line and everyone at or above it is made an offer.
- From interview to offer
- Offers are based solely on the MMI ranking: everyone interviewed is taken to be academically able.
