What it looks for

We have not added Keele’s own description of what its interview assesses yet. MMI interviews generally test motivation for medicine, communication, ethical reasoning, teamwork and what you learnt from work experience; the questions below cover each.

Your personal statement

Scored at shortlisting

Scored 0 to 15 of the 25-point shortlisting score against Keele's person specification: the biggest single part.

Your SJT band

It does not count at the interview. Band 4 is not considered. Band 1 adds 2 points and Band 2 adds 1 to the 25-point shortlisting score; Band 3 adds nothing.

Questions to practise

Written by MedOffr in the style of MMI stations. None is taken from Keele or claimed to have been asked there.

  1. 01 · Motivation

Why medicine, rather than nursing, pharmacy or becoming a physician associate?

  2. 02 · Ethics

A 15-year-old asks a GP for contraception and does not want her parents told. What should the GP weigh up?

  3. 03 · Role play

You borrowed a friend's laptop and it has stopped working. The actor is your friend: tell them.

  4. 04 · Data

This table shows A&E waiting times at two hospitals over a year. What can and can't you conclude from it?

  5. 05 · Teamwork

Tell us about a time a group you were part of was not working well. What did you do, and what would you change?

  6. 06 · Work experience

What did you see on your work experience that surprised you about a doctor's job?

  7. 07 · The NHS

What is one pressure on the NHS at the moment, and what would you do about it?
