How it runs

Format
Multiple mini interview (MMI)
From interview to offer
About 1,400 Home interviews and 100 international. Offers go in order of interview score (out of 105) with the whole application read; the lowest interview score offered was 73 for Home applicants in 2025 and 2026. Applicants rejected after interview may reapply only if their interview score was within 5% of that year's waiting-list line, and the two interview scores are then averaged.

What it looks for

We have not added Leicester’s own description of what its interview assesses yet. MMI interviews generally test motivation for medicine, communication, ethical reasoning, teamwork and what you learnt from work experience; the questions below cover each.

Your personal statement

Tie-breaker only

Not routinely scored; read for borderline and tie-break decisions and when offers are ranked.

Your SJT band

It does not count at the interview. Band 4 is rejected pre-interview. Bands 1 to 3 are treated alike in the 96-point score.

Questions to practise

Written by MedOffr in the style of MMI stations. None is taken from Leicester or claimed to have been asked there.

  1. 01 · Motivation

Why medicine, rather than nursing, pharmacy or becoming a physician associate?

  2. 02 · Ethics

A 15-year-old asks a GP for contraception and does not want her parents told. What should the GP weigh up?

  3. 03 · Role play

You borrowed a friend's laptop and it has stopped working. The actor is your friend: tell them.

  4. 04 · Data

This table shows A&E waiting times at two hospitals over a year. What can and can't you conclude from it?

  5. 05 · Teamwork

Tell us about a time a group you were part of was not working well. What did you do, and what would you change?

  6. 06 · Work experience

What did you see on your work experience that surprised you about a doctor's job?

  7. 07 · The NHS

What is one pressure on the NHS at the moment, and what would you do about it?
