Lancaster Medicine: the admissions numbers

Lancaster ranks on the UCAT total and publishes where the line fell: 1,920 for UK applicants for 2026 entry on the current test (1,870 contextual, 1,900 overseas), after 2,580 on the old scale for 2025. UK interviews have run at 581 for 926 applications, with 325 offers for about 130 places. Offer AAA, MMI, about 10 stations, online.

2026 entry is on the current UCAT scale out of 2,700; 2025 entry is on the old scale out of 3,600 and was Lancaster’s first UCAT year (it used the BMAT before). Read the 2026 line for your own score.
1,920 is where the 2026 cut fell, not a promise: Lancaster sets the threshold each cycle from the cohort, and for 2027 entry says only that it expects to select from the top seven deciles. A small borderline pool up to 10 below the line was also interviewed in order of prior academic performance.
Contextual applicants had a lower line (1,870) and Lancaster Access Programme completers are interviewed regardless of UCAT; those are excluded from the cut-off figures.
The funnel counts interview places available, not interviews attended, and offers include those later placed from the reserve list.

How Lancaster selects

Ranked on the UCAT total

Applicants who meet the academic requirements are ranked on the overall UCAT score and the threshold is set each cycle. For 2027 entry Lancaster anticipates selecting from the top seven deciles with SJT Band 1 to 3.

Contextual applicants

Borderline UCAT scores are read with contextual information: applicants meeting the widening-participation criteria can be invited on a lower threshold (1,870 against 1,920 for 2026 entry) and may get an ABB offer. Applicants who complete the Lancaster Access Programme are guaranteed an interview.

Personal statement

Not scored at any stage. Claims of work and voluntary experience are checked at interview.

Entry requirements

GCSEs: At least 13 points from eight GCSEs (A*, A or 7 to 9 = 2; B or 6 = 1) including Combined Science or Biology, Chemistry and Physics, Maths and English Language, each at 6 or better; a 7 in Biology or Chemistry if not taken at A-level. A-levels: AAA in one sitting after two years, including any two of Biology, Chemistry and Psychology; offers range from A*AA to AAB, with ABB as the contextual offer.

MMI, online for 2027 entry, held in January and February. Offers are on the MMI; a reserve list runs to the start of term.

* A small number scoring up to 10 below the threshold were placed in a borderline pool and interviewed as places became available, in order of prior academic performance. Contextual status is not collected at the application stage, so there is no applicant average for UK rows. In 2025 the average UK interviewee sat 200 above the cut-off and offer holders averaged the same as interviewees: the interview, not the UCAT, decided the offer.

Lancaster is small: about 926 UK applicants for 130 places, with 63% offered an interview place for 2025 entry and 56% of those places turning into an offer. * 2021 enrolments were inflated by the government direction to reinstate offers after the 2021 A-level results.
