St George's Medicine: the admissions numbers

St George’s ranks every eligible applicant on the UCAT total and interviews from the top, and it publishes the threshold for every cycle since 2016: 1,880 for Home applicants in the 2026 cycle on the current test, after 2,600 on the old scale in 2025. For 2025 entry 782 of 1,293 Home applicants were interviewed for 165 places. Offer A*AA, MMI.

The 2026 thresholds (1,880 Home, 1,640 overseas) are on the current scale out of 2,700; 2016 to 2025 are on the old scale out of 3,600. Only the 2026 line is comparable with your score. St George’s says the threshold cannot be predicted from earlier years.
Two conditions apply, not one: at least 500 in each UCAT section as well as the overall cut-off. A high total with one section under 500 does not qualify.
Figures in brackets in the threshold table are the lower line St George’s used in clearing that year; 2020 and 2025 had one.
In the funnel, St George’s “deferred entry” offers (140 to 207 a year) far exceed the deferred-entry applicants (14 to 32), so they look like offers of a deferred place made to standard applicants. The columns are reproduced as labelled and the Home totals add both.

How St George's selects

Ranked on the UCAT total, with a per-section floor

Every applicant who meets the entry criteria is ranked by UCAT total and interviews go to the highest scores until the places are filled. Both a 500 minimum in each section and that year's overall cut-off must be met. St George's says the threshold cannot be predicted from earlier years.

SJT points after the interview

After the MMI the SJT band is converted to points and added to the applicant score: Band 1 adds 15, Band 2 10, Band 3 5 and Band 4 nothing. For 2027 entry St George's will consider the SJT band in its decisions.

A-levels

AAA including Chemistry and Biology (or Human Biology), completed in one sitting over two years; offers range from AAA to A*AA.

GCSEs

Five GCSEs at 6/B or above including English Language, Maths and Science (Double or Triple Award).

Waiting list

UCAT results may rank the post-interview waiting list; 174 to 205 Home applicants have been placed on it in recent cycles.

On the old scale the Home line sat between 2,480 and 2,710 for six cycles, and the average interviewee was 80 to 140 above it (2,711 in 2023, 2,833 in 2024). For 2026 the overseas line (1,640) fell below the Home one for the first time.

* Deferred enrollers applied in an earlier cycle. Home applications halved from 2021 to 2023 and have stayed near 1,300, while interviews have held at 670 to 780, so the interview rate has risen from 29% to 60%. Offers per Home interview (standard and deferred together) reached 74% for 2025 entry, with 205 more on the waiting list for 165 places.
