UEA Medicine: the admissions numbers

UEA has no UCAT cut-off: the total ranks applicants for interview and then counts again, with the interview score, for offers. For 2025 entry 699 of 1,012 Home applicants were interviewed, the lowest non-contextual interviewee had 2,080 on the old scale against an average of 2,743, and 599 offers went out for 192 places. Offer AAA, MMI.

University of East Anglia (UEA) publishes no line. This is the band its own figures describe, which is the nearest thing to one.

Read this before you use any number on the page

Every UCAT figure here is on the old scale out of 3,600. UEA has released nothing for 2026 entry on the current test out of 2,700, so no number on this page converts to your score.
The lowest interviewed (2,080 for 2025 entry) is where the ranking stopped that year, not a threshold: UEA says a low score does not disqualify and a high one is an advantage. It fell 260 points over three years as applications fell by 40%.
The UCAT counts twice: for the interview shortlist and again, with the interview score, for the offer. At most schools it stops mattering once you are in the room; here it does not.
There is no contextual threshold, no weighting of GCSEs against the UCAT, no EPQ credit, and the personal statement is read but not scored.

How UEA selects

No cut-off; the UCAT ranks twice

No cut-off: a high score is an advantage and a low one does not disqualify. The overall UCAT total ranks applicants for interview, and after interview the UCAT and interview scores together rank for offers. The SJT is folded into the interview score.

No weighting, no EPQ, statement not scored

UEA says it has no weighting system across GCSEs, UCAT and predicted A-levels, does not consider the EPQ, and reads the personal statement without assessing or scoring it.

Contextual applicants

UEA gave no separate contextual threshold: the lowest-UCAT question for contextual applicants was 'not applicable' in every year.

Entry requirements

GCSEs: Six GCSEs at 6/B including English Language, Maths and two sciences or Double Science. A-levels: AAA including Biology (or Human Biology) or Chemistry.

Interview

MMI. In each year the lowest UCAT interviewed was 510 to 660 below the average interviewee: the ranking reaches well down the applicant pool.

Applications fell from 1,688 to 1,012 while interviews rose, so the interview rate went from 37% to 69% and the lowest score interviewed dropped from 2,340 to 2,080. Offers per interview rose to 86%, about three offers for every place, so UEA expects most offer holders to go elsewhere.
