Bangor Medicine: the interview
A multiple mini interview (in person). Below: the numbers, what the interview looks for, your personal statement and SJT band, and questions to practise.
- Format
- Multiple mini interview (MMI) · In person
- When
- Invitations go out in December. UCAS shows a placeholder interview date, which is not the real one: Bangor emails the next day with a link to book your own slot. If nothing arrives within 48 hours, email medicineadmissions@bangor.ac.uk. A booked date cannot usually be changed, so check it against your other schools.
- In detail
- An in-person MMI at Bangor: discussion stations exploring the personal qualities doctors need.
- How it is scored
- The station scores are added to make a final score.
- From interview to offer
- Missing a booked interview without exceptional reasons ends the application. Extenuating circumstances must be declared when booking or before the interview; none are considered afterwards.
Interviews and offers
Bangor (North Wales Medical School) has not published how many it interviews and makes offers to.
Missing a booked interview without exceptional reasons ends the application. Extenuating circumstances must be declared when booking or before the interview; none are considered afterwards.
We have not added Bangor’s own description of what its interview assesses yet. MMI interviews generally test motivation for medicine, communication, ethical reasoning, teamwork and what you learnt from work experience; the questions below cover each.
Read with the application
Read: it has to show you understand the UK healthcare system and what medical training involves. Bangor does not say it is scored.
It does not count at the interview. The SJT band is not considered at present, though Bangor says that may change; the ranking is the UCAT total.
